Remembering a pet with a QR keepsake

Pets are family, and the photos and videos we take of them are some of our most treasured. Here’s how a QR keepsake can keep them close.

Remembering a pet with a QR keepsake

Most of us have hundreds of photos of our pets on our phones. The zoomies in the garden, the head tilt, the spot on the sofa they made their own. A QR keepsake gathers them all together in one place you can open with a quick scan.

For a pet you’ve lost

Losing a pet is losing a member of the family, and it can be hard to know how to mark it. A keepsake engraved with a QR code can sit by their photo, hang from your keyring, or rest where they’re buried in the garden. Scan it and there they are: every photo and video, every funny moment.

A few ideas for their page:

  • A favourite picture at the top, the one that captures their personality.
  • Videos of them playing, snoring or greeting you at the door. Those little sounds are worth keeping.
  • Photos through the years, from puppy or kitten days to their grey-whiskered best.
  • A few words from everyone in the house about what they loved most.

For a pet who’s very much still here

Pet keepsakes aren’t only for saying goodbye. A page full of photos of your dog, cat or rabbit makes a lovely gift for a birthday, or for a new pet joining the family. There’s no limit on the number of photos and videos, so there’s room for every one of them.

Choosing the keepsake

For something that will be carried or worn, an anodised aluminium tag is light and practical. For a memorial in the garden, stainless steel stands up well to the weather. A stainless steel heart is a gentle choice for a shelf or a memory box. Our post on choosing a material goes into more detail.

Gathering the photos

If the pictures are spread across different phones, ask everyone in the family to send you their favourites. Don’t worry about picking only the “best” ones. Blurry action shots are often the ones that make you smile most.

When you’re ready, just email us the photos, videos and any words you’d like, and we’ll do the rest. If you’d rather the page stayed private, it can be password protected. Have a look at how a dedication page comes together.
